About the To Be Free Residency

To Be Free began as an eight-week residency at Warsaw in Brooklyn in late 2025, a deliberately small venue where Smith brought out guests including Ed Sheeran and Brandi Carlile. It continued with a February 2026 run at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco, and now lands in Mexico City for its four-night Latin American edition. Each city gets its own version of the show, so the Auditorio Nacional nights are not a repeat of what came before.

Smith broke through with In the Lonely Hour and has since won multiple Grammy Awards, an Oscar, and a Golden Globe, with a catalog that runs from ballads to club records. Their most recent studio album, Gloria, produced the worldwide hit “Unholy” with Kim Petras. The residency also carries a limited-edition Vivienne Westwood collaboration designed by Andreas Kronthaler, with proceeds going to The Pink House LGBTQIA+ foundation.
